Nirnaya Getting Women A Place Under The Sun
OUR FUNDERS

We, at Nirnaya owe our existence and growth to the following agencies and individuals who reposed their unflinching faith in us, and our work. Their help over the years made us strong and renewed our commitment to the cause. But for them, we would not have touched and transformed the lives of so many disadvantaged women and girl children.

We thank:

1. Mama Cash, The Netherlands- helped the idea of a women's fund germinate and nursed the growth of Nirnaya for five years. The funding was based on trust. It was also unconditional and encouraging. Mama Cash continues to fund Nirnaya towards building its team and team capacity.

2. The Global Fund for Women, USA - responded immediately to a request for infrastructure expansion in 1999 one year after Nirnaya was established and in 2002, it matched the scale up grant of Ford Foundation for a period of two years. It has always risen to the occasion by way of support for participation in international conferences. Global Fund and Nirnaya have entered a new phase in May 2006 where both are partners and the former makes grants specifically for regranting so that the common mission of improving women's lives locally and building a strong global women's movement can be pursued.

3. Ford Foundation - sanctioned a scale up grant for two years from 2002 - 04 and this was followed up by a further grant for a period of three years from 2004 - 07.

4. Filia, German Women's Fund - trusted Nirnaya to find suitable partners for its pilot grant making in India. Filia continues to make grants for specific projects.

5. The Women's Funding Network, USA - funds travel, registration and accommodation of at least one representative for its Annual Conference since 2002. It also makes available its valuable toolkits for planning, monitoring and evaluation.

6. WIN, an Indian Diaspora Women's Group in D.C., USA -made a grant towards support for work that Nirnaya found most suitable in 2002.

7. Indian Diaspora group in West Virginia - concerned about communal harmony, made a generous donation in 2002 to Nirnaya towards rehabilitation work in post riot Gujarat.

8. Over 100 individual donors - within India have found the Nirnaya cause worthy of their support.

9. Stiftung Natur Kultur Mensch, Germany for the education project in Hubli Karnataka.

10. The A & C Kumar Family Foundation, USA for community development in Gomahar village, Nalanda dsitrict, Bihar.

11. Global Giving USA regularly posts Nirnaya projects on its websites and there is a steady stream for specific projects throughout the year sicne the past three years.
